Lucinda – Personal Trainer

I took my first steps into the Health and Fitness Industry just over 6 years ago after the birth of my daughter. I’d always had a passion for anything fitness related and after getting myself back in shape, through my own research, dedication and effort, I decided I wanted to help other people achieve their health and fitness goals and get in shape too.

Since then I’ve not looked back and done a mixture of working in gyms and Personal Training.

I’m a keen runner, and last year took part in the Virgin London Marathon, I set up my own training plan (and stuck to it) and since then I’ve helped train and guide other people to race success, whether it be a 5k Race for Life or a Marathon.

Until moving over to Cheshire, I ran for my home town Lytham, where we raced throughout the year from cross-country to road and relay races. During my time running for them, I was part of a team that took home the Bronze in the Lancashire County Relay Championships.

Obviously, my greatest running achievement is the Virgin London Marathon, not just covering the distance, but the gruelling training program I set myself in the January, my dedication meant I didn’t miss a day. The fact that I completed it in the same year our country hosted the London 2012 Olympic Games, made it even more special!

My greatest overall achievement has to be having (and raising) my daughter Maya. Being a mummy isn’t always easy but it’s so rewarding. The first year of her little life was hard work, but now I look at her and think…. WOW… I’ve done alright so far haven’t I? I think I’m leading by example and she’ll quite happily sit there and munch through her veggies….. if that’s not an  achievement then I don’t know what is!!

Why I do what I do:

I love what I do. I love helping people achieve their goals and become happy with the way they feel, both inside and out.

It changes people’s lives and normally their families too, and knowing I helped them achieve that well… it’s just the best feeling you can have!

Interesting Fact:

I’m also an Air Stewardess, so I could help you fit into your new bikini then take you on holiday too!!

What I Enjoy:

Obviously I love exercising and running is definitely my passion, not only do I love setting my clients goals and seeing the results and how it benefits them, I love setting myself goals too… and reaching them.

I also love spending time with my family and friends and especially taking holidays to lovely places, where we can all relax together.

I love travelling and seeing new places, and I’ve managed to see quite a few interesting places with work or on holiday. The first thing in my case is always my gym kit, trainers and running watch. I’ve run all over the world, normally early in the morning before everyone wakes up, it’s my “special time” just me, my trainers and my thoughts – perfect!

I love learning, there’s so much to learn within this industry, you never know everything, so you’ll often find me with my head in a book or a magazine.

Oh, and I love being a mummy too!

“When I contacted LFF in Feb this year I had been trying to improve my running on and off for several years, however I felt I was unable to sustain a reasonable pace over a longer distance; I was at best a ‘stop start runner’. Lucinda listened to my aims and put together weekly running plan which clearly showed the aim of each run, she also put together a gym plan to improve my strength and compliment my running plan. This, with the confidence and self belief which Lucinda helped me find, enabled me to achieve my initial goal of running 5k non-stop in a good time; I am targeting a 10k in the autumn and can’t wait!

The variety of the different running sessions that we planned together has kept me motivated and combined with the weekly sessions with Lucinda, where she explained the benefits of different types of training and exercises, has made all the difference.

I’ve also lost weight and feel fitter as a result of the structured training plan, I think I can call myself a runner now!”
