Maria – Yoga Instructor

Maria Home Yoga Instructor Cheshire Manchester

I have been studying and practicing yoga since 1997. I first began my practice in Florida where I studied Ashtanga and Iyengar. I have since continued my yoga journey training with various teachers across the U.K. and Australia.

I qualified as a Yoga Instructor in 2011 and now teach Vinyasa Flow and Ashtanga Yoga at various gyms and studios around Manchester and Cheshire. I teach group sessions and on a one to one basis. I’ve been filmed for live classes and arranged a Yogathon last year raising almost £1000 for charity.

Becoming a Yoga Instructor would definitely be considered as an achievement as I’d always dreamed of doing this. I would say my main career achievement has been teaching a style of yoga that has been designed to increase fertility with the outcome of a pregnancy. However it always makes me feel happy when clients achieve their own goals whether this is relieving sciatica, helping improve sleep patterns or just simply being able to touch their toes! I’ll always remember the guy who told me he could now put his own socks on without sitting down!

Why I do what I do:

Since teaching I have noticed how Yoga helps to develop a person’s strength, flexibility and balance. It also helps to heal the body of injuries and brings about a greater sense of well being. I’ve seen this in myself, going from someone who previously suffered with anxiety to becoming a lot calmer and mainly having the tools to manage stress and aid relaxation. I have a real passion for helping others live a more confident, happier and healthier life and truly believe that this can be done through regular practice of Yoga. I’m living proof and can definitely say that I practice what I preach.

What I Enjoy:

Yoga and everything yoga although I do find some time to socialise. I also enjoy hiking in the countryside, most forms of live music and entertainment, reading, watching films and tasty home cooked treats.

The one on one sessions with Maria were great, we were able to spend valuable time looking at the correct alignments and new postures. I feel like my strength and flexibility have improved, which has had a positive effect on my yoga within group classes also. Maria is a great teacher to learn from, she’s personable, encouraging and her approach to yoga is refreshingly current. – Becks, Manchester
